Doctors without Borders

Their main goal is to affect change. On committees such as Global Health Cluster, they deal directly with issues and affect positive change. On other committees in which they do not have an obvious tie, they can bring in mindfulness.

Christian A. Romero highlighted his frustration with certain topics that had been chosen. The World Health Organization had selected  biofortification. This topic is not relevant to Doctors Without Borders. “We provide health care, once they can sustain themselves we leave.” He did acknowledge that malnutrition is a real issue but just not something that he can change.  Though he did add his opinion on GMO’s: “GMO’s aren’t the greatest solution, there is  too much controversy between USA and the EU about it because of lack of evidence.”

The organization was dealt a second blow when Topic B was not chosen by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. He was passionate about the situation in East Africa. “Refuges are stuck in camps in Kenya, this is how diseases spread.”

Though dishearten by the selection Mr. Romero was optimistic about the Global Health Cluster where he believes he can affect positive productive change.
